Chickenfoot and Pink

So, this has been a great week for music fans (at least for me it has), having the release of the discovery collection and DSOTM immersion edition, and of course the release of Chickenfoot III.

I'm waiting delivery of both the dsotm and chickenfoot III (takes an extra week to get it delivered to Costa Rica), and wanted to ask you experts what's the veredict on sound, mastering, on this records.

I read somewhere that the discovery/immersion stuff is very similar to "oh by the way" collection, which imho is a good thing, and worth the effort if you don't own the first run... but what do you guys think?

On chickenfoot, I'm a foot soldeir for sure, love the first batch of songs Joe and Sam put together, but I was not very fond of the sound in the first record, something was missing, so for those who heard the III already, what's the veredict on it?

When i heard about them I thought, eh, whatever, but then saw them on Palladia and really loved the energy. It's like Van Halen with a better guitarist. I'm actually gonna try and pick it up tonight if I can get to the store in time.

Ha, the extra's in the cd are awesome. I loved the 80's style blue red 3D glasses and all the inserts. The hidden rant was pretty funny.

Bout to settle in and play it.

 Meh..

Normally Allmusic is right on for me and rates albums pretty close to how I would rate them. I think this is the first time I've come across an album being overrated and I wish I hadn't bought it.

It's good, don't get me wrong, but completely forgettable mostly, like many Van-Hagar songs tend to be, and some of the songs, like the worst of Hagar, are a bit corny. Well, really corny. There's not a "Hot for Teacher" or "Panama" in the bunch.

After watching their live performance I was expecting a bit better... On the album, Satriani is a bit bland. capable, but.. boring. His talents serve almost as an afterthought.

Despite what I might have been hoping for, this will never replace my Van Halen collection.
