Hi

Do not think so from Bryston because there are a number of apps available already.

What variety of graphic interface Android Tablet app is available? I hate to be forced to purchase a Ipad if I use the BDP-1 for my system.

Don't feel forced to buy an iPad.  Buy it because it is the best!   :D  :peek:

Uhm... You made a typo there.
"Don't feel forced to buy an iPad.  Buy the Samsung Galaxy tab because it is the best!"

Happens to the best. No worries.

Hi audioseduction

I have the Samsung Galaxy Tablet and I use MPDROID or PMIX.  You can also use the Bryston MINI application which is built into the BDP-1 digital player.  They are not as feature oriented as MPAD and MPOD on the iPaD but they work fine.

Hi Marius - yes that was a neat addition I think.  By the way have you tried MINI 2 ??   - it is a lot faster than MINI 1 and we are working on a MAX 2 version using the same technology used in the MINI 2.

Seen it but not tried it yet, looked to me you designed that to be specific for the iPod/Iphone handheld, while I use the iPad more these days.

Will try soon, and let you know? Looked promising, especially the speed of things!

Yes the Mini2 will work on the iPad as well - you an also make the image larger in iPad by using two fingers.

btw, power-button is not working, is that correct? I could not find a network standby-setting or something of the kind to enable that?
The Marantz-app has that, and it's very nice to have that functionality on the remote also.
(then again, the BR2 does that also, so no big issue..

Yes we left the power button OFF as we thought it would be too easy to hit it by accident.

That I had seen, but it won't stick to the iPad's fullscreen.

very nice functionality though.

Wouldn't mind if it didn't show the file.extensions, seems a bit too much of a computer interface, instead of a high-end Audio remote.

Coming to think if it, I believe that's exactly what's been in my mind all the time with all the Bryston interfaces, and couldn't find the right words for. So simple. sorry for that.  :duh:

They really look like computer filemanagers instead of Audio-interfaces, like Mpad or iTunes for that matter. I believe you could make enormous progress visually and because of that functionally, if you would change the file-managerial look of it.

Best example of that are the folder-icons and file.extensions, which are thé icons of the computer-paradigm. That's why the issue  of the album art visuals should not be forsaken too soon, they are the way users browse through their collections I believe, albeit sorted in some user specific way. (ordered by Composer/performer/genre etc)

Max VFP doesn't (look like a file manager) and thats why I kinda like it.....

Well, coming to think of that:
I'm still confused which button to press sometimes, the left/right  or the up/down. Not always as intuitive as I would like it to be. because of that I both rebooted and reset the BDP1 already. luckily it has not "delete" or "format" commands.
Might be wise to have the user confirm those system-commands?

(the BDP still says it's "reseting" )

It should work exactly as the front panel does.

It does, but there it wouldn't hurt either to have the BDP1 ask for confirmation on system-commands. That's one of the filemanager-properties you should adopt, imho.

Loaded Mini 2 onto my iPod.

I do like the speed of things, much better than Mini 1. I miss the "add-all" command, and somehow find it uncomfortable that the 3 top buttons don't stay, but are scrolled along the screen, when scrolling the tracks in the library.
Really like the Back-Button, just as I asked for before.  :thumb: please do that in Max also!

It might be useful to not let the interface go from portrait to landscape, since in landscape, the useable amount of screen is rather small. Seems designed for portrait.

Since we're on this topic, don't you consider making a designated App, instead of a browser implementation like Mini? You'd be able to use a lot more screen for interfacing to the commands.

Then again, Mpod is available of course.

If you'd ask me, i'd go for Max in the Safari platform, Max VFP and Mpad for the iPad, a mix of the interface of mini1 with the speed and beauty of Mini 2 for the Ipod/Iphone, and Mpod for the latter.

Gnome on the Mac is still too much of a challenge, never worked for me yet, and don't need it next to Max I guess.

Choices, choices....

Greetings,
Marius

James, I can't seem to get MINI2 to work on my I Phone. I get the image (Playiing Playlist, etc.) but it will not load or connect. Any suggestions?
Also, you mentioned that the Samsung Galaxy Tablet can utilize MINI, but not MAX?
I am trying to decide on a tablet but really want one that works great with the BDP.

  Also, what is MAX VFP?

It may not be the newest iPhone os which is needed.

I would go with the iPad if you want the best interfaces available.

VFP is just a virtual front panel of the BDP.

Seeing that the Blackberry Playbook is on sale at 100$ off all models, is there a control app that runs on it? It is a good size for this application.

thanks
