Aha, I see. Where it worked through my complete collection before, it stops after reading one file now, and the green light dims....
But now I finally see that my hdd is not FAT32, but VFAT....

O boy, please don;t tell me I have to format the HDD and reload it with all my files/folders....

Marius

OK - the selected drive must be formatted FAT32 - click in the little round button ( it will show a dark inner circle when selected) and then it will ask you to reboot - do that - after reboot go to the Settings again and choose the add album art DB - then exit the settings page and restart the program and it should be there.  It may take a couple of minutes to load the art.

haven't got one right now, but for testing purposes, could I try the Bryston Thumbdrive?

It needs 500MB of storage to work.

strange this is,
I took a Thumbdrive, which in Mac Finder is identified as FAT32 , and in Bryston MAX is listed as VFAT??

This might not be a Windows/MAc issue?

Hi Marius,

Sorry I missed that - I believe VFAT and FAT32 are the same -  back to the begining

Hi James, Terrycym, Maurius

I did all the steps correctly, and for some reason , it still doesnt work!
I got the exact same long report that Marius got.  Wondering if the BDP-1 is unable to either set the scratch drive or write the album arts to the scratch drive.  Does the BDP-1 display any message indicate that it successfully set the scratch drive?

urgg!

In    Settings > Drive Information.  My scratch drive shows a black circle to show it's selected.
Other than that, I can't really help, sorry.

I don't know the Mac terms, but can you browse to both connected drives from your Mac using Network Neighbourhood/My Network Places?

it seems we had the same problem.

I just posted a pic of the suddenly loaded album art in Max. Only thing I can think of is, that after receiving the window  with the error messages, as posted earlier, I now closed safari, and by close I mean the quit command on the Mac, not just the open windows, restart and clear the cache, then fire up Bryston Max.

Other than that, I'm in the dark. (would have sworn I did all this before, but then again...)
good luck,

Marius

As you say Marius, same here.
It gave me a load of grief beforehand, tried a few things, I think I may have even opened the cache drive to inspect the jpgs and eventually it worked.
I coudn't possibly reproduce the steps to make it work but percevierance wins through.

There again, was it worth the grief?
The background does look nicer now though.

Have you noticed that the pictures keep changing every time you reload the interface?
A cute touch.

I've got some of those albums too. Definately not the Diana Krall one before anybody asks

well there you go.

Why the Diana Krall? you mean the SACD logo? I wondered about that too, because I ripped my cd, and in Max it shows as 44100. So definitely no SACD here....
As a matter of fact, there's no album art available in Max.

How that happened, I wouldn't know.

And now that I've got it working, I immediately feel the wish again to be able to browse and search my collection by looking at the albums, and when found, clicking on them to select and play.

I hope that Bryston would someday implement that in the interface. That would come a lot closer to a 'natural way' of music selection.

Don't forget that most SACDs have two layers and computers see the red book layer which is what you ripped.

DK is just not my taste in music, let's leave it at that.

Elvis likes her and that's what counts

I know about the two layers, but I've got the cd version.  In my hands right now, had to see it again to believe it ....

Maybe the rippers found a wrong pic through the databases.
Well, only legal here, no other way to go :nono:

I see what you mean now, it was the ripping software that searched for and downloaded the album art

No, although that definitely closes the browser  :D

I guess the trick is to clear the cache. Don't know what platform you're on, but on the Mac I quit the browser, restarted it, and first clicked "empty cache" , both in the Safari menubar.
