Wow, your TV cost less than my ModWright Transporter. The ModWright Transporter can’t play movies it only plays two channel music.
Quote from Dan's page: "If you already have a Transporter, we can upgrade your unit for $2000, plus shipping both ways. Typical in-shop time is 2 weeks. If you do not have a Transporter, we can provide you with a finished unit for $3800." Wow,that is for two channels of music and no TV; Yes, for $3,800.00. Crazy? I don't think so.
Now, I hate to point this out to you Pez but your TV dropped in value by about 45 percent the minute you walked out the door with it, similar to a new car purchase. If you got a really, really cheap price on it you might only have lost about 30 percent of the value or price you paid and the longer you own it the less it will be worth. New cars do the same thing but even worse. A vintage used but collectible 1967 Ford Mustang is one example of a smart purchase. It would be just one example of an investment that appreciates in value the longer you own it, but you can’t watch movies on it either.
This vacuum tube that I have listed is as you know very rare, very sought after; sounds amazing and it will only go up in value. It has already done so since I purchased it some years ago.
In my opinion, I think it a wise decision to put a high quality tube into such a high quality Transporter network music player or other audio device. Then again Pez, would you even pay an additional $2,000 for the modifications Dan Wright offers on a Transporter? You can't watch it, only listen to it. I think it comes down to priorities and also investment strategy.
You see, I rarely watch TV, I invest in vintage vacuum tubes and listen to music, but maybe you can still call me crazy. LOL! I have my moments, that is for sure.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. UPDATE! The price for this Mullard Metal Base GZ34 has been adjusted. See it on Audiogon but hurry before it is sold!
Sincerely,
