I saw this movie recently and found it quite interesting stylistically.  Long opening sequence with minimal dialog that was quite effective.  Used music to set the mood sort of like Miami Vice.  Be aware of sudden, unexpected graphic violence.

Drive is an outstanding film. Probably my favorite film so far this year (granted I'm not watching movies as much as I used to). People really, really need to see this film. It is greatly inspired by the Ryan O'Neal film 'The Driver' from the late 70's, but taken up a couple notches to art-house level interms of tone and performance. Gosling is... man, can't even really describe what he does and what the film does because it is so minimalist in certain ways and so VISUAL all I can do is encourage anyone, particularly guys since it is an 'action' film, but almost like a zen action film because there's also a lot of tension and inaction and... ack, forget it.

BTW, I also recommend the director - Nicolas Winding Refn's breakout film from last year 'Bronson' and also his Vikings-on-acid (literally) film 'Valhalla Rising'. These two are much more extreme in terms of surreal style and violence, but with a definite vision and not just for the sake of it. Valhalla really is a badass viking movie on shrooms.

I think those expecting Drive to be a blockbuster action film filled with car chases will be disappointed.

Personally, I found this movie to be dark, emotionally charged and very well done. Despite being a love story, it's my favorite film of the year.  The soundtrack is excellent too.

Great flick, thoroughly enjoyed a week or so ago. Hard to believe that they actually toned down some of the more violent scenes...

I rented Drive this weekend and it's the best movie I've seen in a long time. The movie soundtrack is outstanding! I ordered it from Amazon. It reminded me of Thief starring James Caan from around 1981. That film has one of my favorite soundtracks. It's by Tangerine Dream.

I can understand why some people wouldn't like this movie. The title itself makes one envision any number of insipid Bad Boys clones. This one smolders; slow but very intense. It doesn't have the constant BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH dialogue that many are accustomed to. In this respect it is the anti-chick flick (unless your chick is a serious nerd). It takes its time. It is a little stiff in parts, but overall very well done, with some of the finest and most satisfying scenes, with perfect build-ups.
