The inexpensive ones that sound good all have some things in common I'm finding:
 1) Comfortable- so far the JVC's then come the Senns but both are very comfy to wear at least for me. Awhile back I had some $20 SONY's, big ole comfy as all get out, modern looking, they sell them all over....can't find the number, they were the only ones that sounded crappy to me but where mucho comfy!!!

 2) Closed over the head, over the ear configuration- The closed aspect naturally helps the sound and fit. I have only tried like 3 models so far so I'm sure there are some not fitting this formula.

 3) Super Efficient- Both the JVC and Senns are super easy to drive and with the Fiio E11 Headphone amp even easier.

I'm gonna try some others next-any suggestions for <$20 headphones...as I typed that I still can't believe they cost so little.....very eye opening. :thumb:

Monoprice has a couple of full size phones. The premium model goes for $21._  I looked at the reviews and Anonymous from Portland had an interesting comparison. Sony V6, 7506,  Senn 201, 202, 280, JVC RX500 and Monoprice. He concluded that the most balanced of the $20 phones was the Senn 201. They are also the hardest to drive.

Amazon has great prices on headphones, but the prices really fluctuate by the hour sometimes. Its really bizarre, like they show you half off, then you check back and its 25% off, then it drops back down, then it goes back up to 15% off where it will stay until it returns to full price...that sort of thing. I don't know if its a strategy to make a consumer pull the trigger or what. Usually around Thanksgiving there are great prices to be found.

I bought a PS Vita today and grabbed the Sony silver earbuds made for it...$19.99 + tax, I'm not sure 100% because I may still wake up but the $20 earbuds from Sony sound-I can almost say it but not quite yet- are the best IEM's I own. These must be based on Sony's new headphone/IEM offerings and if they are any indication I think we may all may be buying some. I cannot believe how good these little silver buds sound....

If anyone is interested on a pair of Denon D2000 Call J&R and negotiate for a lower price. A friend got them for just $220!

Ordered some new Shure SRH 840's for $129 + free shipping Tuesday on Ebay, they arrived today (2 days later). These usually sell for $199 most places. As of now they have 2 pairs left.
