Pandora & sound quality

I am a paying subscriber to Pandora & really like it.

Has anyone A/B'd the sound quality between going to Pandora.com versus opening the Pandora icon on your desktop?

I get better sound by logging in via the main website.  is that weird or what??

I've been switching back 'n forth the last hour or so, just to confirm.

I like the quick shortcut icon interface more, from a user standpoint.  Having a small window open on the desktop all night giving me album covers & info is nice.  Going through the website i've got better sound but no interface until I maximize the pandora window.  oh well!!

i'll take a guess that the 2 interfaces use difft software.

I've toggled back 'n forth a few times tonight, and I think the output level of the website is much higher than through the shortcut.

I can't detect a big difference in sq once the db levels are adjusted to compensate.

Final update:  The sound quality sucks when using the shortcut interface

I've sent Pandora a request for info. The bass is very one-note-ish, its veiled.

One good thing is the main website interface has a nice digital volume.  The signal is hot though & with pandora's volume ctrl all the way up, my amp is barely on & the music is rocking.  Turning it down about 20% works great, and its much more detailed than the other interface.
