Guys

I like building stuff for fun and this was my latest experiment.  It uses the same MB as the CAPS 2.0 but with the M350 enclosure which allows you to use a PCI device should you choose...no moving parts so perfectly silent.  Its loaded up with 4gb of Crucial RAM.  You just need to add a drive (I suggest an SSD), OS of your choice, and you'll be ready to run your USB-based DAC.  Sweet!!

It has a 12v input which makes it EXTREMELY versatile in terms of power.  How about battery or a nice linear?  Would both be cool to try.

Here is the audiogon ad with pics:

Its as-new...just tested.  I want to try something else now that I've had success with this.  $225 with free shipping in the continental U.S. (for Audiocircle members only).

Thanks,
Jim

I'm interested, but I have some questions.

Can I use a remote device (like my iPad, iPhone, or one of my PC laptops) to control it?  Can it be controlled wirelessly, or do I have to plug in a keyboard/mouse/terminal to use it?

Hey Tyson.  This is completely dependent on the OS you decide to install.  I'd probably do the iPad / iPhone thing via Foobar through Windows 7 x64.

Its probably easiest, at least for initial install, to hook a keyboard, mouse, monitor to it.  This would just be to get everything installed...then you can remote to it via the aforementioned iPad / iPhone - lots of keyboard / mouse apps that can accomplish this.

Also, I have an extra (brand new) OWC 40gb SSD that I can include for $75.  I'll install it, too.
