Genesis SACDs - Any Genesis fans here?

My first post.

FYI, in case you hadn't heard, the entire Genesis catalog is being remastered and released on SACD/hybrid.

Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is due out in May.
Trick of the Tail is being remastered as we speak.

Further title order TBD but I will post if anyone is interested.

ABACAB is one that I would love to hear in SACD format, do you have info on a release date for that?

In college, I spent many a "hazy" night listening to Genesis, have some fond memories of the lamb (from what I do still remember of those nights).

Be interested to see how the remastered versions of the old Genesis stuff sounds.

It depends on which release they will tackle after Trick.

Lamb => Trick implies they are going forward, not backward. Therefore, ABACAB maybe the third or fourth release.

I also heard that they are really testing the waters. If the SACD Lamb and Trick don't sell very well, the plan will probably die a quick death.

The Lamb on SACD would be great.   May release huh?

Trick of the Tail was a good album considering Gabriel had left.

Hopefully they will consider other Gabriel/Genesis albums and not just go forward from Lamb and Trick.

Who will be releasing them?

Later...Dan

Hmmm...when was this announced?  I mean, the entire Genesis catalog being on SACD.

As far as I know, only "The Lamb" and "Tricks" are being remixed for 5.1 hi-rez.  For now.  The hi-rez remix of "The Lamb" is done and has been signed-off by both Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks.  The is announced on the official   Genesis website.

As for how the hi-rez remix will be released, it's tricky.  Genesis is on the Atlantic label in the US, which is part of the WEA group (Warner), the main backer of the DVD-A format.  However, for the rest of the world, Genesis is on, I believe, Virgin, which is a SACD backer.  I have read on the Genesis forum that "The Lamb" and "Tricks" will be offered in both SACD and DVD-A.  But, for now, no definitive word yet.  BTW, this goes for the rumored Phil Collins hi-rez remixes as well, not to mention other artist like Dire Straits.

Nothing has been officially announced but both Nick Davis and Tony Banks indicate that they intend to do the whole catalog.
