FS: Freid Transmission Line Subwoofer
« on: 11 Sep 2011, 06:14 pm »
PRICE LOWERED!! FS is a pair of Freid 10 inch transmission line subwoofers. Irving Freid is considered the father of transmission line designs. If you like pipe organ this is awesome.

The cabinet is oak and you have option of bi amp or passive crossover. The crossover is all hi-grade caps/coils and these are big so I would not recommend shipping unless you have a SUV to pick up. I live in Nassau County Long Island. Since most people do not have space for 2, I am willing to break up the pair at $275 225 ea or $400 for the pair. If you have any questions just message me.

Funny, there was recently a "Fried" thread over on Hawthorne Audio...those guys loved their Fried speakers very much.  I hope you don't mind, I cross-posted a link to this on that forum since they were familiar with the equipment.  http://www.hawthorneaudio.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4075

Irving Fried had about the best handle on bass of any designer I know. All of his designs had great bass to my ears, including his smaller boxes with variations on aperiodic and/or resistive ports (a la Dynaco A 25).
I built a set of his H2s with the KEF 8" woofers in the single bend 4' long transmission line box in around 1977 and heard the best quality bass I had heard to that date.

Irving knew his stuff, I think. I also hold Dr. Poh Hsu in similar regard for similar reasons.

If I didn't have a custom set of speakers being made over on Hawthorne Audio, I'd buy these just to have a set!  Good luck with the sale....
