http://www.musicalparadise.ca/mp/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=75I have had original and now MK2 its designed by Gary Huang in Canada, Made overseas, and shipped from the warehous in Canada or directly. Its only 6.5 watts X 2 but it drives everything I have. Currently push some JBL-L830 that are 90db..vol on 1/4 is almost too loud for me, I listen nearfield at low volumes, I was given this amp by Lee who recently passed away (He said he wanted to smile for a couple days) and it worked. With the right tubes, I'm using some real old Mullards and some new runs...I love this thing. Just another option to confuse you more...LOL
If you are considering the Onix Melody SP3 MkII, there is one for sale right now on AC for $550. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=97653.msg989435;topicseen#newI want to state I have no relationship whatsoever to the seller and I have not heard the amp personally. Just trying to help your consideration...I apologize if that is overstepping in any way.John
Hey!As for tube amp. I would avoid those bargain priced ones on eBay and etc. As for your speaker... sensitivity is only part of the equation, 87dB is not bad and if the impedance stay pretty flat across the the band than is would be even better because it will be easy to drive. I think something like 30-40 wpc minimum should be just fine for you in small to medium room at sane SPL.
