Stratos Balanced Inputs?
« on: 7 Sep 2011, 06:01 pm »
I was wondering if there is any problem with running an Oppo BDP-95
DVD player from it's balanced outputs directly into the Stratos Stereo
Extreme's balanced inputs (the Oppo has a volume control for the
analog outs) and also using the RCA inputs from my preamp for the rest
of the system.  They would both be connected at the same time, but I
would not be trying to play both sources at the same time!

Klaus, or anyone, thanks in advance!

Hello John ...
you need to know is that the XLR on stratos, are not symmetric ... :nono:
it is a bypass of the entries!
that can switch on XLR Liasons.
let me, I tried it with a Harman Kardon Signature 1.0 preamp, in France, I say, and I had got a very big BUZZZZZZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So have the opposition in XLR, RCA and the rest Surles, I do not know what it can give ???????
knowing that the two are connected !!!!!!!!!!
our friends will certainly clarify  :P

XLR's are just fine with the amps.  However,  as there are so many different wiring options,  it is a good idea to provide me the model information so that the hot / cold / ground  pins of the wiring match up.  Otherwise.....buzz.
That's a more general problem as there are different standards and wiring practices out there in audio land.
