I replaced the stock caps on my Almarro A205A MKII with AmpOhm PIO tin foil caps (0.22uf value), the same caps/value Jon L had posted that he decided to use in his Almarro after extensive experimenting.
I've been burning in for a few weeks, and have something over 70 hours on them. They still don't sound that great. Not as smooth as the original and, in spite of using such a large value, the bass is much more restricted.
How long should I wait before throwing in the towel and trying different caps?
(By the way, nothing but respect for all the work that Jon L did with the caps. Difference in my experience could be that I'm using speakers (Omega Super 3Rs) that are more colored and rolled off in the bass than Jon L's high-end headphones.)
Edit: Turns out that my amp had a minor problem with it (most bad tubes). Once this was sorted the little Almarro was singing with the AmpOhms. Really nice.
