Swimming with Hurricane Lee

Took two nieces with us to Orange Beach, AL, this past weekend (Thursday-Sunday) unaware of what we were about to run in to - Hurricane Lee. The winds weren't too awful bad (35-65 mph), and the rain was not constant so we went to the beach every day anyway as temperatures were warm and so was the water. We all took turns body surfing and riding boogie boards. It was wild. However, we were extremely cautious to not wade out deeper than our upper thighs as the current was so strong it would have sucked you out to sea easily and nobody would have been able to get you (no lifeguards, no other people on the beach most of the time).

By the time we left for home on Sunday, Lee had hit land and travelled right along with us back to Atlanta, spawning a bunch of tornadoes up here yesterday.

Awesome!

I was down in Panama City, Flaaarida a few yrs ago amidst a tropical storm.  Biggest waves i had ever seen on the gulf side, so much fun.

Living in NW Florida, this one was "small" in comparison to most.  A ton of rain though.

I'd like to go out in that on something like a Jet Ski. Looks like it would be fun.
