Micheal Green RoomTune Vs. Eighth Nerve TunePak

MOVED from Eighth Nerve forum for lack of any comments:

I am curious if anyone has done comparisons between the Michael Green Room Tunes and the Eighth Nerve TunePak's.

http://www.michaelgreenaudio.com/catalog/test.htm

Perhaps someone can comment on the materials used inside?

They look like identical designs, and I would just as soon purchase the least expensive of the two if people felt they were similar in composition.

Thanks,

Marbles

There is one more factor...Eigth Nerve has taken the time to answer many peoples questions and both Nathan and Bill are active on AC.

When Michael Green was asked to participate in the Acoustic Circle he left AC.

For what little price difference there would be, I would (and have) given Eigth Nerve my business.

There was a lawsuite between the two companines and I don't think that Eigth Nerve is able to comment on MG's products and vice versa (but I could be wrong on that point).

I have been out of the loop when it comes to lawsuits or comments made here about either company. Just getting ideas about materials, etc. Thanks for messages about personalities though, it is important to me when making a purchasing decision.

8th Nerve came to my house and did a complete room test with thousands of dollars of equipment.  I bought a couple hundred bucks of their stuff but to pay someone to do the same thing would cost twice as much as the product.  I'm not saying they always do this, it worked out for both of us but... clearly 8th is my choice.

Since there's clearly some kind of lawsuit issue, I would imagine the essential design and construction are similar.  Otherwise, the products would be different enough not to have a dispute.

Based on MG's behavior on this forum, I wouldn't do business with them but it's your dime, not mine.

My understanding is that the 8th Nerve guys used to be partners in Room Tunes before striking out on their own.  I may be wrong, or this might be an oversimplification- someone please correct me if I am misinformed.  But If so, then I'm sure the striking similarity is no simple coincidence.

I can understand wanting to save a few bucks, and MG is selling what appears to be an extremely similar product for $100 less.  However, you're not only buying a product but in a sense buying into a company.  The 8th Nerve guys have been very active here and have answered a lot of our questions about room treatments & acoustics even when they couldn't expect it to lead to a sale.  In sharp contrast, MG & associate seem to view this site strictly as an opportunity for some free advertising.

In the end it comes down to what type of company you want to do business with.
