Panasonic SA-XR25S for under $140 at Circuit City!

Someone on avsforum posted that they bought the Panasonic SA-XR25 for under $140 at Circuit City.

I called the ones in my area and only an open box was left for $129.99 so I took it. These models are discontinued,..the MSRP is $299.99.

These receivers are getting rave reviews on avsforum, audiocircle, and audioasylum because they are fully digital and produce amazing sound.

Check your Circuit City!

Do you have more info on this - 2 of the stores in Northern New Jersey
wanted $250 for the floor models. Is there anything I can show the manager?

Strange. Was it the PAN SAXR25S?

Maybe it is store to store. The guy who bought a new one got it for $134.xx new he said.

It scanned for $129.97 in the computer for the open box SAXR25S at my store. Maybe take it to the register and ask for a price check?

After reading this thread, I visited CC locally where the Panny 25 was sitting on the shelf at full $299 MSRP.

I too was able to get one for $139.99 at the Circuit City in Spokane, WA. They have only the floor model left now.

From what I gather, the only differences between the XR25 and XR50 are:

-an extra digital input
-A & B speakers
-digital remastering
-DTS 96/24
-bigger display

Is this it? Please list others if you know. Since CC has the XR25 for a clearance price of under $150, I might just return the XR50.

I went to Circuit City today and was surprised to find an open box XR25 for $150.
The local store had kept them at full retail while everyone else was getting them at bargain closeout prices; eventually, they were totally sold out. They claimed there were NO open boxes anywhere in the chain.
Maybe anyone interested should stop back in his CC just in case something similar happens in his local CC.
