From what I can tell, it seems that the main effect in far field of the slot loading will be raising Qts and lowering Fs of the drivers. In near(er) field there's some SPL gain - since that's how I have my prototype positioned, I reckon it's worth trying.

I  haven't checked out JohnK's website in a while.   He's got some cool mini DSP designs.  I wish JohnK would get a circle on AC.  He is a very intelligent guy and I enjoy his analysis and commentary.
