The (Fons)
« on: 31 Aug 2011, 09:40 pm »
Hi,most of us remember the Fonz,Fonzie,or Authur Fonzerelli from the Happy Days. But I remember buying a turntable in the the late 70's without a arm that was being liquidated for real cheap, brand new from Scotland. It even had a 78 speed.I can't remember where it went.Does anyone have a clue about the Fons?Thanks.....Mark Korda

I used to own one.  :)  It was the Fons CQ-30. I bought it from Roger Modjeski back when he worked at Audio Art in Richmond, VA. He mounted an SME 3009 with (I think) an ADC ZLM for me.  It was a nice rig and my entrance to the world of separate tables and arms.

Oh yeah!! I had a Fons too. I put a Lustre GST 801 tonearm on it and used a Panasonic Strain Gauge cartridge with Jeff Rowland's strain gauge board, which I still have along with about half dozen of those cartridges.
Those were the days......
