BR2 remote simultaneous BCD and BDP use?
« on: 29 Aug 2011, 07:58 am »
Hi James,

I've been using the br2 with the BDP/BDA and BCD with great pleasure since long. Works great, and having the BR2 along with the more complex and versatile handling through the MPAD/Ipad is an extra bonus.

I stumbled upon 2 questions that as I dare to believe could be easily answered for and would be a great addition.

Now we have to select the BDA/BDP and the BCD to be able to switch them on/off. It would be so nice to be able to put them on/off with the push of 1 button.

Also, when in BDA mode, the track control buttons don;t work for the BCD and vice versa. Would it be possible to program the BR in a way that those buttons work for either machine (BDP and BCD) they have no other use that could be in the way, as far as I can see from my remote art hand.

That way the user would only have to select the input, DA or CD, to switch between sources.

Of course I have to explain: I just recently connected my BCD to the BDA, and only because of that found out it won't work like explained and asked for above.

Greetings,
Marius

Hi Marius,

Because the BR2 can operate a number of different Bryston products the engineers tell me that some remote features can be implemented but others can not without having another dedicated remote.  I will run this by them.

The BR2 I use a lot as well because as you say basic functions is all that is required once you are locked and loaded.

Thanks, hope it gets a engineering-yes!

Hope my question is posed clearly enough. Another way of putting it would be: use the DA or CD buttons on the BR2 only for source selection ,  the track-buttons (play, pause, stop, back, previous, next, forward) and the power- button are universal, whichever source would be selected.

eject-button  might not be useful for the BDP...Or, might it be programmed for manual updating the database after loading new music onto the BDP attached HDD....?

Greets,
Marius

Hi Marius: I don't have a Bryston remote, but a Logitech Harmony - The BR2 seemed too pricey for my use. The Harmony isn't perect, but I turn my BDP/BDa on and off simutaenouly with it, and with one button. I can control the BDP functions - play, pause, stop, next track, previous track, and can scroll the BDP screen. You've made an investment in the BR2, so I hope James's engineers can find a solution for you using it. But if they can't, and it's important enough to you, you might look into the Harmony.

I know, already felt the need for it because of the other 11 or so remotes.....dreading the programming-phase though..

Thanks anyhow,
Marius

Would the remote trigger function between the 2 devices solve your concern?
