Help with a partition & Win 7 issue
« on: 28 Aug 2011, 02:35 am »
Think I messed something up when setting up the partition & installing windows 7 on my 2010 mac mini.  i can't toggle between the 2...   When i hold down the x button at start up, only windows 7 is an option in the Windows Boot page.  When i go to Start Up disk in the ctrl panel, i have no selections when clicking on the main partition with the oem os.

The smaller partition that i created for win 7 has the C: as its location. My main/orig drive is blank in that cell.

What did I do wrong?  I can't toggle back to mac to use Bootcamp, and can't access the net for some reason using Win 7, either with the dsl line plugged into the mini or using the mac wireless router.

any help is appreciated.

Install the Apple Bootcamp drivers on your Windows machine.  You can find them on your Snow Leopard disks, if you started out with Lion there was an option to download them.  Either one will work but should get you back to the Mac OSX partition if you didn't format the entire drive.  (What size is the windows disk and what size is the hdd :) if they are remotely close, you probably screwed up).

BTW, it's the option key that you need to hold down almost before you even turn on the mac. You will probably have faster response if you use one of the many apple forums dedicated for bootcamp.

Bingo!  That's why I posted here first - just needed a simple answer.    :thumb:

Installing bootcamp on the new partition initially was the issue.

Thx
