FS: ADS L1290 Series 2 speakers (no longer available)

I am the original owner of a pair of ADS L1290 Series 2 speakers and have finally decided to sell them after many years of enjoyment. I purchased them new in 1986 and they've been in use in my main system up until 6 months ago. They've always been used in and are currently stored in (spare bedroom) climate controlled conditions.

The ADS L1290's are a very smooth, easy to listen to, open sounding speaker. Here's a link to the original Stereo Review review;

I would rate their overall condition as 7/10 due to some minor cosmetic issues; light scratches, small chip in veneer, and some fading that's apparent when the grills are removed. They are in perfect working condition. Sticky dome tweeters and midranges do have some dust stuck to them, but this is normal and doesn't affect the sound. Woofer butyl rubber surrounds are in perfect condition. They are finished in walnut veneer.

I have the owner's manuals and the protective tweeter/midrange caps. I believe I also still have the original purchase receipt. I do not have the original boxes and do not want to risk damage so unfortunately shipping is not an option. Local pickup only. Price is $400 for the pair.

Thanks Doug, I appreciate the suggestions.

I suspected not offering shipping would be an issue. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't really know how to pack them properly to prevent shipping damage or where to get appropriate shipping boxes given their size/shape. I really would like to find a buyer within a reasonable drive from me to assure their new owner gets them home safe and sound. Shipping just seems to be a hassle/risk I'm just not up to at this time.

I'll check out A'gon and see about posting an ad there as well for more exposure.

I've had the thought if they don't sell, I may just use them to set up a second system, perhaps in the bedroom.

For now I'll give it some more time and re-evaluate my position then.

(Perhaps you can tell from my response, but I must admit I still have some emotional attachment to my ADS.

)

any chance you will be coming to new england in the near future?

i would buy these in a heartbeat as i miss the l-1230's i sold recently to fund a new preamp.

i am in southern ,nh.

Would you be willing to ask your local UPS store what they'd charge for packing, boxing, and shipping to 07450? (I assume it's gonna be a lot - but these guys don't come up for sale that often, and your asking price is pretty reasonable - I might be willing to spring $200 for shipping)
