Holy sh*t Steve Jobs resigned!!!

Quote
In a shocking development out of Cupertino, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has stepped down, the board naming Tim Cook as his replacement. The company said "Steve's extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world's most innovative and valuable technology company."

Wow I'm shocked and a little scared! Is he ok health-wise 1st off, 2nd what is to become of Apple? Is the corporate culture strong enough without his leadership? History has shown it is not!

Not really a shock.

This has been rumored for a while.

In the short term, Apple will be fine.

Apple is a nice example of company built by engineers, run into the ground by MBAs, re-built by engineers and now I guess the MBAs will be again at it....

Expect a cheap looking iPhone 6 with plexi front and cheap looking plastic back. $7.978352 saved per unit. Multiply by 10 millions. Someone gets 1 million in bonus for effective "cost control" measures.  rinse and repeat.

They will most likely be fine under Cook's leadership and continue to prosper for quite some time.  Cook has been successfully leading the company since January when Jobs took a hiatus.

Lets hope for the 100's of thousands if not millions of people affected worldwide, Apple will continue to prosper.   :thumb:

Personally, I think they'll be fine.

I'm a PC guy during the day but Apple lover during the night when I listen.   :shh:

Cook is excellent. Him or Ives would be who I would put in charge. Thank god some jackass CEO from tech company X isn't coming into Apple. IMO it's always a good sign when a company hires from within. If it turned into a clusterf#$k like they have at HP I would be very sad. Apple is the only tech company in the world right now with vision. The rest just follow and imitate poorly.

I am afraid that Jobs does not have too much to go.  I truly hope that his visionary streak has made an imprint in the culture of the Apple at his second time in helm.  Not to sound like a fanboy but, when one experiences a Mac and an Iphone working in tandem, there is nothing that can compete with it in the PC experience rating.  I am a diehard Apple pusher and fan.  Long live the King and Apple! :thumb:

I agree. Requiring a cable between an iphone and a computer to back up the iphone is beyond genius!

Does your mom know you are on the internet?

What a grievous negative fan boy negative reaction given the seriousness of the health of a national treasure!
 :duh:
Your credibility is bunk brother!
If I could rate your credibility on a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being very poor and 10 being outstanding.
I would give you a 1.
When you asked why so low?
My answer would be you did not offer a lower rating.
Your attitude saddens me!

Don't let a**hole posts get to you guys. He loses on a site like this because we're not as anonymous as other sites. Hard lesson to learn, but that's the price you pay.

Any way Jobs is a visionary. And not only that, he's a visionary that matters. Too often our societies most brilliant minds ponder black hole physics and string theory. You know, things that have absolutely no real world use what so ever. Jobs actually contributed (and continues to contribute) something to the common man and enhanced the way we live our lives. If we had people like him in renewable energy, diplomacy in the middle east, and oceanography 95% of the worlds problems would be solved by dinner time.

I wish Steve Jobs well, but from my perspective Apple recently has become more of a high end consumer electronics company, and although that has made them more profitable and successful - it has also made them less trusted for my business. As a professional user of Apple products, I have grown less and less happy with their products and their passive/aggressive abandonment of my industry (Broadcast Television).

Apple has created some "visionary" products that are elegant but irrelevant to me, and acquired and killed a lot of products that would actually have real value to me. Decisions like not adopting USB 3.0 doom me to paying ridiculous premiums for peripherals and put me years behind as product development for thunderbolt lags.

I'm on my 9th Mac, and I've never bought any computer but a Mac to do work on, but if I had to go out and buy a computer today it would probably be a PC. It will probably be a year or so before I buy a new computer, maybe by then the landscape will change.
