Hi Hugh,
Thanks so much for the reply, I see the tolerances might be tight,
I wonder if there might be any suggestions for a few volts over voltage
protection such as a Zener tripping some fuse, or even
something more primitive like "wasting"
this as heat, as this condition would most likely occure at idle time,
at peek of the AC voltage cycle and on rare utility supply conditions.
would there be any recommendation for the PS to up the sonic
quality such as adding a small blackgate in parallel to existing caps
to improve the speed?, the bridge is a 25Amp unit btw.
On a different subject, what about speaker protection?,
I tend to drive amps to their limit,
my previous SS amps through the years
used to blow tweeters, the last mosfet one, nuked away
4 expensive woofers with pure DC.
All my tube amps can't really do that,
I feel safer and at home with them, not scared of
pushing the volume knob to the end.
so I’m "VERY" SS timid,
Infact the whole idea
of this project is a personal curiosity to hear the AKSA
Sonics compare to my current tube gear setup.
my tube gear was actually designed for specs as guid lines at the time
like most commercial stuff, not with subjective listening,
hence I'm curious.
I’m running a Sansui au-111 (a 6l6PP@40Watt with cathode feedbak)
bypassing preamp, just feeding directly from the CD player,
signal path upgraded with auricaps.
also running 2 of it's little brothers Sansui’s AU-70's (7189's)
speakers are infinity sm-150 (15"@400Hz;6.5"mid;FastGlass tweet
avarage most likely around 95-98db sensitivity )
How does the AKSA clip?
Cheers
Alex.
