x=static or ls-6
« on: 21 Aug 2011, 01:25 am »
I'm at a cross roads and looking for some thoughts
I currently have the x-statics/x-voce/x-omni combo as my 2-ch/ht setup
Awhile back I came accross a super deal on some ls-6 cabinets locally and they have been in their boxes for a year.
 Recently I also purchased the primered ls-c center built by outofthewoods.
Before I proceed and spend alot of money on no rez and kits to build them, I can't help but wonder if i'm at the diminishing return point and be better served upgrading the x-overs for the x-statics and spending the money on better amp/processor
I have emotiva gear
xpa-2/xpa-5

If you have the proper room for them (I am struggling with this issue currently), the LS6 is in an entirely different league then the X-static speakers.

I would say with upgraded crossovers, and proper electronics, you would have to spend a lot more to better then LS6/9 in a diminishing returns sense.

King is dead on.  If you have the room, the LS6 offer more detail, dynamics, and more bass.

I agree.

To me, the LS series is pretty much unbeatable for the money, if you have the room.   I couldn't find anything at Axpona this year that I liked two-thirds as much, even for ten times the money.

Thanks for the reply's
Guess I just need reassurance
Figure I'll be throwing $4000 into three cabinets. Just want it to be worth it before proceeding

LS-6's will be a pretty good step up.
