Greetings,
I have a pair of Ed Shilling Hornshoppe Horn Model 1's for sale. These single driver speakers were purchased about 3 years ago, but have seen little use over the last year since I replaced them with a pair of Omega Hemp speakers in my dedicated two-channel system. It's time to find them a new home.
The Horns have a matched pair of Fostex Fe 126E drivers with a cherry veneer finish and are in excellent condition. I added some brass spikes on the bottom front of the speakers.
Speakers are NOW $525 OBO FOR THE PAIR WITH FREE SHIPPING. I would prefer to sell locally in the Wilmington, DE - Philadelphia, PA area. I do have the original box and foam inserts to ship them. You are welcome to audition them in my home if you are within convenient driving distance to area code 19707.
Here is some additional information from Ed's website: Hand built, single driver loudspeakers that are rear loaded, folded, corner horns. Designed to be placed in the corners of the room and capable of high SPL using SET (or other flea power) amplifiers. Corner placement is not required but suggested for maximum extension and output. The Horn uses a single 4.5" full range driver (actual cone diameter is about 3.5 inches) and the pair are capable of 98-100db (peaks) in an average size room with a 3 watt ( or greater) amplifier. No restrictions on power. An easy 8 0hm load. Size 30"tall, 11.5"deep, 6" wide.
I'll post some pictures later. I would rate these 7 out of 10 on the Audiogon scale, simply because the original speaker finish is a little rough and the brass spikes, which were added by me. The speakers sound great and are very easy to drive - just about any amplifier or receiver works well.
Please drop me a PM if interested. I'll post some pictures later this evening.
