Oppo 95 mods are good to go
« on: 12 Aug 2011, 02:37 am »
Two levels of mods are available and and option for modding the front three multichannel outs.

All info is on my website: http://www.tweakaudio.com/EVS-2/Oppo_95_mods.html

For the next 30 days I will take off $50 on the level one mod....so instead of $300....its $250.

The Oppo with mods is delivering more musical information than I have ever heard.  Better than my over $1000 mods to the older 83SE.   You can use the Oppo to decode music via usb from a hard drive so you can play your computer files and also high rez ones......so, a usb DAC as well....and a superb one at that.  Uses the same top of the line 32 bit Sabre DAC that is in the $1000/$1500 WFS and $1000 EE DAC.  So, you get incredible music via usb and via every type of decodable disc (SACD, DVD-A, DAD, CD, DVD video and Blue Ray video and audio.....2 channel and 8 channel).  The digital volume control within the Oppo operates at 32 bit so you could run the Oppo directly into an amp for even better resolution (no bit loss with most music and volumes).

Wow! have come a long way since this original post.  The EVS modded Oppo 95 is now by far the best digital source (for discs) that I have ever heard.  I have added Shunt regulators on the DAC, an upgraded regulator for the digital supplies, and changed both clocks (main and one for the DACs) to incredible low jitter clocks running off superior regulators.  The results are now spectacular.  I have a page that is linked off the main Oppo page that describes how my mod is different from others (objectively).
