save this gear
« on: 10 Aug 2011, 09:25 pm »
Hello, I have b&o beogram rx2 turntable that I think needs a cartridge, It just skids across the record. Also have a Yamaha T33 tuner and Yamaha GE 30 equilizer. I have owned all since new. I want to get rid of this stuff. I know they are not high end, but too nice to junk. I was wondering if someone has some extra stuff laying around they want to trade for. I am in need of rca interconnects or some good speaker wire. If I have to sweeten the trade with a little cash, thats ok. Let me know what you have.

Thanks Herb.

Welcome Herb, and good luck.

I'm the last guy you should be taking vinyl advice from, but I think an arm that skips across the record is due to a lack of weight on the needle keeping it help down. Should be as simple as an adjustment.

But then again, I could be wrong.  :dunno:

What are you looking to get in trade?

Has the diamond tip gone away?  Could be there's nothing left to grab the grooves.

Didn't one of the B and O TT's  have an illuminated stylus, to light the tracks?

Or was that just from something we were doing while listening in the 70's?

Hello all, I dont think its an adjustment. When it took a dump, I adjusted the weight all the way fwd and it still slid. What im looking for is some good quality speaker wire or rca cables. If some extra cash is needed to complete the deal, than so be it. And no light on the cartridge.

Thanks, Herb

How much speaker wire do you need? I also have some old interconnects laying around. I think you may need a new cartridge for the table

Hey!

Some of the older B&O's stuffs are beautiful. I've never heard one in person. Actually I was looking at their older CD player and receiver... tempting. Well, maybe when I see one at the right price.

As for your RX2 turntable. If it skidding even with the weight all the way forward, are you sure the the needle/cantilever is still there?  Well, some pictures would help

Anyway, the turntable is still running so that is a good start. If you need a new cartridge you are in luck. Soundsmith still make direct replacements for B&O's turntable. :D

Check out this site. I think this is your turntable....

BTW.... if you have some LPs than maybe you should get it running and use it.

Take care,

Thanks for all the replies. I am so ready to break out the records. I am not going to use the b&o tt. It is going as-is. I want to upgrade. I am in the middle of upgrading the whole system. I am interested in the rca interconnects. I think I have to hold off on the speaker cables untill I have my speakers worked on. My amp uses only spade type connectors and my speakers have the spring loads. I want to have them changed to post type. Hey Sturgus, let me know what kind of interconnects you have. I need about 4 sets. Are you interested in any type of trade or do you just want to sell.

Thanks, Herb.

Herb, I have a few different kind and different lengths. Where are you going to use them? What length of speaker cable do you need? I have some stuff that could be re-terminated. What part of town do you live in I am thinking of having a few guys over next Tue. eve maybe you could come and look at some stuff and meet a few fellows. As far as price or trade I don't know but we can work something out since most of this stuff is just sitting around. You have to list your system so we can see what you are working with. Let me know. By the way ( WELCOME TO THE GAS GROUP )

Hello Sturgus and everyone, I live in Ellisville, and I wiil have to take a rain check on next Tues. I am in Chicago now untill the 24th for work. My system is as follows: BGW 320 B amp, Yamaha C-40 pre-amp, Sony XA3ES cd player and Mcintosh XR7 speakers all in a basic stereo rack. Soon to have a new turntable and tuner. One speaker needs two feet and the other one needs about eight feet of speaker cable.

Thanks, Herb
