MY pet birds always have names, and seem to live up to them pretty well.
I do cry if one of my pets dies.
If one of my audio bits dies, I usually just want to put it in the trash, all busted up after i smash it in with a hammer for failing me!!
Even stuff i have used for nearly 20 years has zero emotional attachment. I destroyed my (working just fine) Infinity RSIIa speakers because i knew I could get twice as much for the parts, as for the whole system. (the EMIMS were the key, worth $200 each, on the used market) So instead of $800 for the 20 year old speakers, i got $1,800. and still threw the cabinets out on the street for curb trash pickup.)
So I am sorry i do not give my inanimate object names.

Elizabeth : Oh, I hear that! I absolutely cannot abide something which does not do what it is supposed to do especially at the price of this stuff. AAARRRGGHHHH!!!!!
I will definitely have no trouble comin' up with a name for that particular component....

Not to be confused with what you call a piece of "technology" insert euphemism here, that fails to work or that you wish to continue to work.

I don't give equipment names but do confess when things don't work right in a few instances I have called some equipment names - none which would be appropriate to repeat here

For some unexplained reason, I am experiencing flashbacks to a time when I owned a pair of BOSE 701 speakers - oh, the horror...

I was once listening to my mono-blocks and the term "Beast" popped into my mind, hence as they are two of them, "Beasties" seemed very natural and the name stuck. I can't remember if I have ever done this for any of my other electronic equipment over the years.

I have a vintage Realistic DX-160 communications receiver in my room that I am very fond of, but it remains nameless. I always wanted one of these receivers but with a price tag of almost $200.00 in the mid 1970's, it was just out of my price range. I am actually listening to it while I am typing away on this post.

My Corolla also remains nameless - however, I caught myself giving her a friendly little pat on the dashboard when we surpassed the 400,000 kilometre mark earlier this year.

Be well...

Yeah but that's only 250K miles.  You Cannucks are always using metric to make your cars last longer and keep your weight down .

My Camry passed the 250.000 km line a few months ago. I made pictures of the odometer...  8)
It is starting to use quite some oil lately though...

Actually I have always maintained that the metric system was adapted to make high gasoline prices more palatable. Somehow seeing $1.30 per litre for regular is not as upsetting as seeing it priced at over $6.00 per gallon.

Oh, by the way 95Dyna, our gallon is bigger than yours  :P    :D

On a sidebar, we have decided to get rid of the PT Looser next spring as Lady Laundrew liked the Scion test drive. I understand that they no longer produce the PT Cruiser  :banana piano:  :bounce: :hyper:(as it was assembled in Mexico) but the same assembly line production crew is now probably building JBL K2s  :whip: :duh:

The horror.....

Be well...

+1!

Women often name their cars, but it's not manly to name your (audio) equipment!
