First if all, I am NOT looking for country, blues, R&B, or bluegrass.   :duh:

Will be in Nashville in September, working my way to Baltimore, DC, central NJ, maybe Philly and Delaware before heading back to Missouri.  Columbus, Ohio (former home of the great Jim Tressel) :icon_twisted: is another possible stop-off point.

Classic rock, folk, celtic, sounds tracks, broadway, classical are my interests.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

  • SE PA. by way of Boston, MA.
Pumpkinman can give you the lo-down on sites in SE PA, and some in Baltimore if others don't chime in. Joe's record Express in Silver Spring has a good selection, but you must examine the vinyl, their rating is optimistic.

If you get up as far as Allentown, Pman has me hooked on DoubleDecker Records, he'll gladly meet you there. Cross into NJ and hit Princeton Record Exchange.

In Nashville you have Phonodeluxe which has been around for a long time and is open only Fri, Sat & Sun. They have the largest selection. Grimey's is small but, decent quality. There was a place called The Great Escape but i think they might have gone out of business, but i could be wrong. They also had a large selection.

Sounds like fun.

If you are dropping down 55 to Memphis on the way to Nashville, try to hit River Records in Memphis. A gold mine and a trip and a half... every genre... thousands and thousands of LPs and more. Don't let the mess fool you, there are real gems in there and the proprietor know's his stuff.

Hey!  He looks like Scott F in his newly redecorated basement!

I appreciate the suggestions, guys.  I'd love to spend hours in River Records, but I am traveling with "she who must be obeyed" so my time will be limited.

I was hoping to take the tour of Oak Ridge, TN on the way through, but I'll be there only on Sunday, and the tours run M-F. :duh:
I'm a history geek and that's on my bucket list.

How 'bout New Orleans...???

I'll be leaving soon for a 5 day trip. :thumb:

Thanks!
