[SET Man]

Hey!

     20 years a go a teenage boy heard, than saw the music video of the song called "Smell Like Teen Spirit" for the first and was blew away. He went out and bought himself a CD. This Rock's iconic became his life's soundtrack during that time of his teenage years.

     Well, that boy was me. I remembered listening to it and just get lost in it guitar riffs, the raw vocal, the lyrics and etc. Ahhh... the '90s.

     Hard to believe that it had been 20 years since than.... actually it will be 20 years in September. Man! I'm feeling old writing this Anyway, this sure bring back lots of memories during that time of my life. This album is one of my all time favorite and one of the most quintessential part of my life.

   So, dose this album still impact me like it did 20 years ago? Well, no... and yes. At least not the same way like back than. The music still the same as it was but I've grown. But it stills have a way of getting to me every time I listen to it, it brings back the feel and memories of the time of my youth gone by. So, yes it still have impact on me but in a different way. I still like to take it out and spin it sometime.
 
      Now I have this album on LP. Luckily back in the mid '90s when most people don't really care much about vinyl I found a sealed copy of MFSL press on sale for $20 at J&R... cool.

      Look like there will a 20th Anniversary Edition album and a Tribute album also. Here is a link to the Spin magazine...

      Well, I hope they will have it on vinyl LPs also soon.

     Anyway, it is amazing that music can really bring back memories

Kurt was such a douchebag.

For example: he thought it was perfectly acceptable for him to do drugs because he can afford it and he's a rockstar, but other people shouldn't do drugs.... 

I am qualified to rain on the parade, I am from the area, I am of the era, and I witnessed the whole phenomenon.

I find his music whiney and weak. He was no genius. He was lucky.

Priceless ...   

Whether you grew tired of Cobain's antics or not is irrelevant.  This was a killer album when it was released.  It holds up really well IMO.

Butch Vig did a fantastic job of producing Nevermind & capturing that raw energy & sound (they coined it "teen angst" at the time as I recall).  Vig also produced another favorite of mine during that time ... Smashing Pumpkins- Siamese Dream.

No way there were so many BETTER bands: Anything from Soundgarden absolutely smashed Nirvana, Screaming Trees (a damn fine band, Mark Lanegan was actually my best friend's babysitter), Alice in Chains, etc.... Sure, Pearl Jam.

I don't know of anyone here who actually owns any Nirvana and even in the mood for some after just a few songs I'm good.

 I just like my music heavier and with some substance to it. I can't stand warbling screaming and trying to be ironic in a dress.

 By the way, metal came back. Bigtime. "Grunge" or... Nirvana... will always be an early 90's oddity. Turns out we didn't need to be saved, it was all just a sideshow.

    Hmmm... are there better bands than Nirvana out there? Well, that will depend who you ask. Not everyone like the same thing you like.

   True that not everyone I know own a copy of "Nevermind" or other Nirvana's stuff. But I have not come across one person who have heard their works like the popular "Smell Like Teen Spirit" and say they hate Nirvana.... well maybe I do now.

   Anyway, I do respect your opinion about this but will your opinion change my mind and how I feel about about Nirvana especially "Nevermind?" No. And I'm sure many others like myself feel this way too. Still to me "Nevermind" is undeniable a landmark album in music history... it was a great oddity indeed  I must say. And that is why 20 years later people still talk about it and again make the cover of Spin magazine and etc.

   BTW... I do have Peal Jam "Ten" on CD and I have to say over the years I play Nirvana's "Nevermind" more, much more actually. "Ten" was find for a while, a good album but somehow I can't stand the way Eddie sings
