Pman....you sure, thats what I was going to get, I can handle that I think with my shakey hands....Pman this TT has a neat auto cue, and part of what happens is if you don't read the directions like I didn't the needle goes like 1/2 way down and stops...I'm turning the volume up, checking all the cords, then I noticed the tonearm wasn't all the way down. Of course if I read the directions Dean made for me in a very spiffy PDF file I wouldn't have had that "Shit its broken moment".....LOL

You guys put the bug in me. I was looking at vintage tables and found this. The Pioneer PL-S40 in mint condition. Manufacture years were 1982/1985

John as you know I'm a pretty excitable kinda guy.....once I get things consistent and in a good solid location I'll be into it, the few hours I've listened have been very interesting....the challenge seems to be to get a cartridge and pre that can really get the high end extension I hear part of, this brings back so many fond memories.......

Beware, though. I have seen some clean tables that no longer work, broken automatic mechanisms. I have seen the as is caveats or they say they cannot test it, etc.

You won't lose a lot of money but you'll fee disappointed if it's broken from the get go.

Indeed be careful. I bought Ed's on eBay because I knew what was wrong with it and I've serviced TTs for over 35 years now so it's not an issue for me. The person that sold it was at a total loss as to what was wrong with it so he dumped it and he's not alone out there. I search thrift stores and garage sales and the majority of the ones I see are better left for parts. I won't touch em when they're too far gone either!
