Wah Wah pedals
« on: 21 Jul 2011, 08:46 pm »
Hi,A freind of mine has given me a challenge. The challenge is to fix 2 identicle Jim Dunlop GCB-95 Cry Baby Wah Wah pedals. There both dead.I'll have both to compare and he is in no rush as he has a 3rd one to use.I've become familar with tube amps, but these are something new to me.Does anyone out there have any tips or clues that might help me get these things going? If I can get these going it might mean a first step in getting a job with a music store in the trouble shooting area from a guy we both know. Thanks so much.....sincerely..Mark Korda.

Typically they are dead because due to all the vibration (the up/down motion) the wires break loose internally. Also, another common problem is the ratchet mechanism that moves the pot get hinky and no longer turns the pot or the pot just plain wears out. Considering they are both "dead" it should be easy enough to chase down the power with a VOM.

OOOOPS - forgot to mention the cheap switching power jack on the side goes wacky and won't make consistent contact.
