External remote volume control for preamps.

Weird question. Has anybody come up with a external remote volume control for preamps? Many high end preamp designers refuse to put remote volume control claiming implementing an internal remote volume control can degrade sound. I'm wondering if someone has built a remote motor driven belt that wraps around the volume knob and can turn it.

Bent Audio has some. You just replace the existing pot.

I was thinking of an EXTERNAL device, outside the chassis. But since you mention it, can you just take off the Alps pot and replace it with a Noble pot? I didn't think Noble pot would be compatible.

Oh I see. I wouldn't think you could replace the Alps pot because it has the motor in it.
