Personally, I find LEDs distracting.  Especially blue ones for some odd reason. They look cool, but they wear on me.  No idea why.

Blue LEDs really are brighter than their old-fashioned red and green counterparts. Barney O'Meara, vice president of Canadian LED manufacturer The Fox Group, said blue LEDs have at least 20 times the luminous intensity of old-fashioned red and green indicators. O'Meara said his company has developed technology to manufacture low-intensity blue LEDs.

"Blue tends to cause more discomfort and disability glare than other, longer wavelengths," said Dr. David Sliney, an expert on the harmful effects of bright light sources at the U.S. Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine in Maryland. Sliney said the eye's lens cannot focus sharply on the blue lights. While red or green light is focused precisely onto the retina, blue light is focused slightly in front of it, which causes a distracting halo around bright blue lights.

I had an Emotiva XDA-1 DAC and I hated the blue lights and their distracting halos.  The manual said the multi-step dimming function could turn them completely off, but it didn't work.  If you like an irritating cross between a row of airplane runway lights and the Las Vegas strip on the front panel of your hifi components, those are the ones to get.

...or barring that, MacIntosh.

My Manley preamp has a blue LED which flashes on start-up until it stabilizes. On the wrong day it can be like having Freddie Kruger sit in your lap and stab you in the face with an ice-pick for 45 seconds...

Certainly does, often catch her dancing when we're out of sight.
Posted a wonky photo with some nice little green lights in the gallery.

That's right and many thanks for the 14Bs; a heavenly combination.

Love that Spinners vid oldguy, a big part of the justification for the projector was music based dvds.

Pity my photography skills are minimal.

 What a creep you are,
Insulting the man's wife. Take the rest of the afternoon off and go see friends,(If you have any). Better still, take one of your Brystons for a quiet  drive. You can put it in the passenger seat and caress it. all thw while you can have a long talk about how in love you are with it. I wouldn't be at all suprizsed if it talks back to you.

My wife has never heard of Bryston and doesn't understand why I have just replaced my Musical Fidelty amp with a 4BSST2.  "What was wrong with it?" "Nothing," I said, "it's just that this one is even better."  She is actually an amateur musician but cannot appreciate hifi, she listens to TV on her lap top with no external speakers.

My wife loves Bryston gear. She says ever since the 4BSST and BP25+ DAC came home, I have stopped bringing other gear into the living room and constantly listening to the same songs over and over, not to mention the mess of wires etc..
She appreciates how the system sounds, but is satisfied with the bookshelf Missions and the receiver in the family room playing fm radio.

Never quite understood that.  I have several professional acoustic musician friends who have sunk large sums of money into other hobbies, but don't have any inclination to own or listen to a nice sound system at home.  I would think they would be more particular than myself.  Peculiar.

My entire family (i.e. wife and kids) prefers the internal speakers on our Samsung LCD over a surround sound system.  I think I must have been adopted.  My real family are all audiophiles!

Um, there is no wife, I believe the woman in question is single. Learn to read. As for the rest, why don't you have sex with your Threshold.  :icon_lol:

Works well, also use an external crossover which helped a bit. Long term plan is to upgrade to fully
active plus an XB3 but there's no cash left!
The BB5is seem to appreciate a bit of headroom but in no way are the 14bs excessive.

For musicians.. I cannot play a single note, nor sing at all.
I love music however. So I have a kilobuck stereo.
Maybe if I COULD play and sing, I would ignore the hardware.
