Does your Wife Love Bryston?
« on: 19 Jul 2011, 02:07 am »
Wouldn't it be nice if your wife can enjoy your hobby as much as you do?? Obviously she has to love Bryston to do that  :thumb:

Recently I visited the showroom and saw a lady in her late twenties, young, and look professional. She was browsing various gears/electronics and chat with the sales person whom I know well. Later I asked the sales person and realized she actually spent 40K for her own audio system!!  :o That is a serious female audiophile.

I won't mind if my wife bought home 2 x 28B for herself

Yes my wife loves Bryston, yet she never and I do mean never listens to my Bryston gear.  She loves it because it got me off the Gear-ry-go-round....and saved our bank account....  :o

I have infected mine. Not with the Bryston virus per se, but she definitely got the audiophile bug.

I think guys are more into audio gears than women. But there are some exceptions of course!.  :o

My wife owned Bryston gear before I did.

Her other interest is jewelry... The real stuff

she now has speaker envy - my VMPS RM30 - and is reading up on their line

be careful what you wish for

Mrs. HsvHeelFan actually chose my KEF speakers at the dealer.

She decided I needed new speakers, in the mid-90's, when she got tired of my Yamaha NS-1000 footprint.  She wanted a slimmer speaker.  We listened to everything.  Yes, I could have paid more money for marginally better sound, but I would have had to spend 4x what I did.

She loves how life-like my Bryston 4B-ST sounds.  She like vocalists and they're just "right" with the Bryston power.

My wife does not care at all. She does not like the cables (if they are showing) involved in creating a 5.1 Bryston HT system however. She did have her team from work over a few years ago, apparently the guys were most impressed with the stack of bryston components......go figure

My wife has acknowledged that my Bryston gear sounds good - better than the mid-fi / low-fit stuff but I can't say she agrees it's worth the incremental cost.  She also hates my taste in music - she can't stand jazz or classical.  We kinda agree on some acoustic rock - e.g. Jack Johnson, and some alternative i.e. Pheonix etc.

Hence, I often listen to my kit late at night when all are asleep.

Love, no. That's for me. But she does like the simplicity of the Bryston gear and its clean sound. We've had many Bryston components over the years come and go through the system.

Or a musician, a lawyer, a doctor...who knows but personally, I wish there were more women into high end audio.  It would add a little to the AV shows, for sure and new perspective and dynamic.  They are welcome anytime in my book.
