FS: Parasound Halo A21 Amp - Excellent Condition!
« on: 1 Jul 2011, 03:44 pm »
For sale I have a Parasound Halo A21 amplifier in EXCELLENT condition.

Continuous power output:
250 watts RMS x 2 at 8 ohms
400 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms
750 watts RMS x 1 (bridged mono mode) at 8 ohms

Retail price for the A21 amp is $2300. Your cost is $1250 + shipping.

I am located in SE Wisconsin, about midway between Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL.

The amp will come with the original packaging materials, including both inner and outer shipping cartons and the pdf owners manual.

This particular amp has been used sparingly by me. I probably have put about 400-500 hours of use on the amp. It is in very good condition. There is a VERY light hairline-like scratch on the upper rim of the faceplate that can only be seen from up close. Additionally, because it is on the top rim of the faceplate and not on the front portion, it is simply not noticeable when viewed from any normal listening position. In fact, I did not even know the scratch was there until I decided to take it out from the equipment rack and take the photos below.

If you are reading this, you probably already know the fantastic reviews and awards bestowed upon the Parasound A21 amp. It was awarded "Best Solid-State Amplifier" by The Absolute Sound 2008/2009, as well as receiving "Editors' Choice" Award, The Absolute Sound, 2007.

Designed by John Curl, one of the most respected circuit designers of all time. Interestingly, he is also one of the men behind the design of the Grateful Dead's 'Wall of Sound' distortion-free sound system in 1974 - the largest concert sound system built at that time. The following link is an interesting interview with the man: http://www.parasound.com/pdfs/JCinterview.pdf

I have nothing but great things to say about this amp. I find it capable of presenting all the inner details and nuances of the recording, while still having very serious power and muscle. From The Absolute Sound review: "highly suitable for driving anything from power-hungry planars like Maggies to low-sensitivity acoustic suspension cones."

I am an experienced Audiogon user as well, where my user name is the same. I only recently started using the feedback system there, but please feel free to check out my feedback and rest assured that I will treat this transaction with the utmost care.

I will accept money orders or checks if you can allow the time for them to clear. If using Paypal, add 2.9%. Please send along any questions you might have. I will be available to communicate via email or my cell phone. Some pictures are included below. You can PM me for more information.

P.S. I also have a Parasound Halo JC2-BP Preamp with Home Theater Bypass preamplifier in ‘Like New’ condition currently for sale as well.

I can make a special deal for anyone interested in purchasing both the amp and preamp together, so please let me know if you are interested.

Some photos of the actual unit:
(you might see a few reflective dust particles on the faceplate due to the camera flash and my amateurish photo skills)
