The last couple were such dogs, it's very difficult to get excited about it.  It's a plus that the director is different, but that darn Tom Cruise really needed to be changed, just like they changed 007 IMO..

Looks better than the last one. Cruise is smart I'll give him that - casting Jeremy Renner as a strong supporting role/bad guy(?) adds fresh appeal and having Brad Bird direct is an inspired gamble, he's got better skills as a storyteller than JJ Abrams.

I think Cruise's mistake with this franchise is the character. Ethan is just not that likable or interesting a character. You are more interested in what happens around him than in him. If he played Ethan like his Knight and Day performance (which I loved), MI would be a lot more fun.
