fill in the air space behind traps
« on: 29 Jun 2011, 06:02 pm »
i have real traps which are behind my speakers on a 45 degree angle with an triangular air space between them and the walls. i wondered if filling up the space would improve the bass. i ordered some rock wool scraps from ats acoustic -very cheap and stuck them in  pillow cases. the improvement was very nice-more than i expected. bass seems a little more detailed and the whole room more coherent. my house is a wood frame rancher with a suspended floor. dont know if this type construction interacts differently with acoustic products than does a home with a lot of brick and cement...

Thanks for your input.

I am doing something similar but using some large fiberglass batts in the back corners of my room, left in their plastic bags. For the front I will be using some recycled insulation, due to space constraints I will transfer it to some laundry bags. Mine are going behind some GIK bass traps.
