Meeting at The Speaker and Stereo Store?
« on: 28 Jun 2011, 03:27 pm »
I would like to host a meeting at my home/store to let people see and hear the GoldenEar Technology speakers. And maybe the Gallo Acoustics, if time permits and there is interest.
I am open to suggestions re date and time, as I don't know what is convenient for the group.

Hi Wylie,

Saturday afternoons seem to be the standard time.  Pick a date and I will be there.

Best, Kent

I'll chose Saturday the 16th of July, from 1PM till 6PM, so people can come and go at their leisure.

Now it's time to explain that The Speaker and Stereo Store is not a store. What? It started as a store and that's the legal name, but in 2003 after 23 years the store closed and I retired. But I never went out of business because people kept calling me at home to get stuff to finish systems. Then the Gallo Reference 3.0 came out and, as I was still a dealer, I had a rush of calls for it, so I decided to do high-end business from my home. I enjoyed it and have continued, picking up new brands along the way. You can see my brands at www.speakerandstereostore.com
I will post directions closer to the date.

I should be able to attend.  I'd love to demo a Bel Canto DAC 3.5 with VBS if there's any way to make that happen...

Catastrofe, you get your wish.  I have the Bel Canto 3.5VB with the VBS power supply with the BC Reference 500 mono amps in my system.

At this point I need to disabuse everyone of the idea that I have a lot of stuff on hand. I do have all the speakers from  GoldenEar and Gallo Acoustics: some electronics from Bel Canto, plus some odds and ends. From the photos I see from your galleries many of you have more components than I do.

That sounds like plenty of stuff to me.  Looking forward to hearing both sets of speakers and the Bel Canto goodies.  See you in a couple of weeks.

Directions to The Speaker and Stereo Store
« Reply #12 on: 7 Jul 2011, 04:29 pm »
The address is 921 Golf Course Drive 63132. If you use online directions or navigation system there is an error you should know about. When directed to exit 170 at Delmar and proceed north on McKnight there is a street that is misnamed.  The directions say turn from McKnight onto Oakbrook, but the sign says Berick.
Also, if anyone wants to receive an occasional audio newsletter go to my website and sign up. Your address is never shared. www.speakerandstereostore.com

Wylie,

Thanks so much for opening up your home and the great hospitality!  I was impressed with the Golden Ears and what they could do for just $2500. It was also great to see everybody again. Hope to see you at another GAS GTG.

Thanks to Wylie and Bernice for their gracious hospitality and the great tunes. Like Vance, I enjoyed the smoothness and even tone of the Golden ears and bass deeper than I expected. Hopefully we can do this again and have you out to a few of our man caves as well. Next time I'd love to hear your VPI/SME combo in action! :thumb:

I enjoyed meeting the group, and I'm glad to have hosted a meeting. I'll definitely do it again, and that time I'll have the Pure Music program configured right.

Sorry I couldn't make it.  Sue had a party here for her staff that I had forgotten about.
