internal server error

Hi,
Just as I was ready to load some new music, the BDP1 shows its updating a database. I'll wait, i think, but it takes a very long time. Went shopping in the meanwhile, and still updating....time for a reboot but alas, this is what shows up in Max:

A log is not to be found.

Just before this, I was playing music and it got completely distorted, cracks and peeps. Like Lady Gaga krept into Bach..... I had to stop and hit play again. that did not help though. it was when playing from the Lacie HDD.

btw a very slight tick is noticeable whenever you hit the playbutton and music gets read out of silence, ie not being played. A bit like changing the sourceselector on the amp without music playing. Is this regular behaviour? Seems less elegant than expected.

Help...?

Marius,

No one person should be having this much trouble - we have almost 500 units out there now and these are all first!!!

well you know,

it's always me. thorough tester, looking for details, and very much wanting....
Im very much torn between to opposites at the moment. On the one hand i feel the BDp is not yet as foolproof and sophisticated as it might well be and should be. On the other hand I've alway loved being capable of playing through state of the art, and feeling the music as if being there in the orchestra myself.

So, James, I tend to rely on your personal approach and reputation in the industry. It does not get any better. :thumb: Your continuous updating gives a looked after sort of feeling, I just hope that no BDA2 (with usb24/192) or BDP2 is imminent in the near future....please confirm :nono:

I am about to order my new set. (past few days were a demo). I now would like to know whether there are any options to order. I know I have to be clear to order the green leds, no change in inputs. Only thing is my dealer told me the new orders will have the old buttonstyle (as on the BCD) and I believe you told us it won't. So just to be certain:
new machines, new buttons, right?
same question about the faceplate: it is not possible to have the new machine without the rounded, faceted edge.
there is no "pro" edition of the set, as in more balanced XLR in/outputs. I don't need the 19 inch. I do ask because after receiving my 28b's i found out there is a pro version with an extra output-control.

I already got a speakercable order in hold to be sent together with this combo, do I mention that on the order form? Last thing: please confirm the optimum interconnect length between the BDA/BDP, should it be as short as possible, or is it the same as with the balanced connection between BDA and BP26, length is not of any relevance anymore because of it being balanced.

Well, sorry for this, a lot of last questions. I'm quit excited. Hope you can spare the time to answer.

Greetings, Marius

Hi marius,

The new cosmetics only apply to the BDA-1 DAC as the BDP-1 has always been the same - (larger buttons) - see pic

No older faceplates available - sorry.
No BDA-2 on the horizon.

Hi marius,

On the cable length I have use both BNC and AES in 1 meter lengths and about 4 inches and in a blind test no difference. Tested 12 other people as well - same results. It is important though that the BNC be 75 Ohms and the AES 110 Ohms.

Curious if the MPD server crashed to cause this max error?   What was the file format for the song?
