For sale is the Nightshade Classic Ltd. Ed. Super Baldwin tube amp -
with choke based PS - I recently purchased here on AC. 45wpc. Additional info here:
http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=64223.0I love the sound of this piece but, after recently listening to several amps in-house, I've come to realize that a mid power amp just does not have the headroom I require for orchestral music with my 87db efficient speakers; even though I listen at relatively low levels. (A synergistic match to this piece requires speakers of 89db efficiency or greater according to Blair and I would concur: I am considering having him build me a high power amp).
The Super Baldwin has very good extension on both ends, is extremely transparent and is perhaps more resolving than any other mid powered tube amp I've heard. The sound is further accurately described here by the previous owner:

Tubes include: 1 pair of Tung Sol 6SN7 blackplates, 1 pair of Sylvania 6SN7WGTA blackplates, 2 pairs of Sylvania 7N7s (with adaptors for use as an alternative to the 6SN7 drivers), one Sylvania OD3/VR150 voltage regulator and a pair of Sovtek 5AR4 rectifiers.
The power tubes are a quad of Genalex KT77s with about 300 hours on them.
If preferred, one can substitute copper cap SS rectifiers (model WU4GB - $22 each, 2 required) found here:
http://www.webervst.com/ccap.html for a tighter lower end. I didn't find the lower end deficient in any way but it is an option if you don't want to bother with tube rectifiers.
