Thanks Ed, i did not know how it would effect the lower driver, thus you can slide it away from the cone depending on your likes, also, just pull it out and lay it on the floor.  These were thinking spealers to build, more work and foresight than prior builds.  I hope there owners are happy with them.  Jon p

Your not crazy, the xo is hidden under the slanted panel below the main driver.  If you want to see it, see previous pics.  Jp

Jon is quite creative indeed. Nice lines on those V's I think. I know he uses "General" stain. The clear  he will have to answer that one.

The stain is "General" you can get it from Sherman Williams or other out lets. As I have said prior, my garage is no place for paint or stain, thus I use a friends spray both downtown.  He is very accommodating and helpful.  The red speakers have 6-9 coats of stain, in between each is a sand and knock down as the baltic really sucks it in and the grain lifts significantly. The clear is a semi/satin gloss from general also-and as you can see from the first pictures in the thread, it really does change the look after a few coats of stain and clear. As the baltic birch supply is dwindling for the next month or so, its typical during this part of the year-hard to get at the local stores or the dealers, i won't be doing to many projects with it for a few months.  The black are just that, black, 6-8 coats of spray and then cleared.  The one thing i did not account for is that the build up of clear and stain made the xo cover on the back and the bottom amp rack  a very tight fight.. so when the owners get them...be gentle-they do go in.  Also, the grills are numbered under the tape ...Nick.. i think you have speakers 3 and 4.  The grill cloth is just a special bolt from the fabric store, 10 dollars a yard...i like it, tight fight and is flat color on one side and shiny on the other if need be... JP  I am currently trying to figure out what to do with all these baltic circle i have.. 50 of them.. I think some round N2X are in order.......remember gallo....

JP,

Wish I could see these and how well they turned out, but they sound lovely.

I'm a huge fan of General Finishes products and have been using them for a long time now.

Jreb, I may have missed something, but I am assuming you have lost your sight... Think of a nice old piece of furniture with a brazilian red stain.. If you have not lost your twinkles...you should be able to see the images....???  If not....brazilian red stain....   ...Jp

Yes, sorry, I just assume most people around these parts know I'm blind.

I'm a big fan of red and it does sound really nice.

These really look great, but I keep looking at them and I am missing the base. They still need some little elevated base platform that the spike feet will attach to. Something with a little character and maybe adding a little tilt.
