I am the second owner of this pair of 50" planar dipole drivers, with the B-G 150 Hz 18 dB per octave crossovers, and the required notch filters.   These were for in-wall mounting, which is how the original owner used them.   See three photos in the Gallery for the open back enclosures that I made for them.   One photo shows the front of one and the rear of the other.   Another shows the crossover and a peek at the notch filter.   My enclosures are built on a 12 x 15 wood base.   Four wood screws hold the enclosure on to a 2 1/4 x 18 x 24 butcher block that has four small feet on the bottom.   The enclosures can be reversed on the b-b using the same screw holes, or repositioned as you see fit.   The third photo shows how I used these with a powered driver (not included !) for below 150 Hz.   The front verticals are 3/4 x 4 x 6 feet long oak with 1/4 inch thick felt on the front surfaces, felt not yet installed in one of the photos.   The sides are made from 2 x 10 pine lumber, and the inside surfaces of these are lined with stapled in cotton dish towels.   I have the original paperwork, which notes:  impedance 3.85 ohms;  frequency response 145 Hz to 18.5 kHz;  sensitivity 87 dB;  vertical dispersion 0 degrees;  horizontal dispersion 130 degrees.   Also included will be the two boxes that the raw drivers came in, plus the box with the in-wall mounting plates and grilles.   In-wall mounting information is in the included manual.   Both enclosures are properly vertical when viewed from the front.   The 2 x 10 supports of one are somewhat tilted when viewed from the rear.   Each driver and enclosure weighs 75 pounds, plus 25 pounds for each b-b.   This is the third loudspeaker that these b-b's have been attached to, so there are many unused screw holes.   Position these speakers as you would any other type.   I had heavy drapes on the walls at the sides and behind.   Excellent imaging and clarity.   Some listeners expressed their opinion that they wanted more dynamic speaker type grunt at the lower end of the operating range.   If you agree, build your own crossover at a higher frequency, then make your own choices as to how you would fill in below that to make a two- or three-way loudspeaker system.   Your pickup only, from ZIP 18661.   Asking $750.00.

Bump

I would be happy to go back to using these, if I could sell the D'Appolito design Thor speakers that I presently have in use.   Unfortunately, these are a hard sell, primarily because of price.  I have $8,700.00 in to these  :-(  The drivers and crossovers are from Madisound, the 1 1/2" thick cabinets are from Zalytron.  The cabinets were special made with some non-standard features, and there are many interesting construction features:
- no connector cup in main box;
- attached separtely built base has crossover and connector cups;
- 45 degree angle pieces at inside bottom of cabinet are now a full half circle from Sonotube material and void behind is supposed to have been filled with expanding spray insulation foam;
- acute ange at inside of cabinet at angled piece above top speaker is supposed to have been similarly filled;
- stuffing is supposed to be of two types in a configuration that provides variable density;
- dark blue fleece covering most of the cabinet;
- wiring from drivers to crossover is Litz wire.

Notice the "supposedly" used.  These are things that the person who did all of this work for me is supposed to have done.  I really have no reason to doubt that it was done, but I can not get in to the cabinets to verify.
