When you click on the picture, and then zoom in again, you see how amazing it is that this is a frame grab...

Unfortunately it is $58K (with the gear you need) before lenses!

Wow, that was a great read. I didn't think the picture was all that impressive until I read the blog. Thanks for sharing that  :thumb:

I'd say it's noisier than I'd like, but the fact that there's 30 images just like this taken per second at this resolution is pretty mind-blowing.  It's hard to imagine editing such a colossal amount of data.  But hey, this is the tippy top of the high end so if you're making movies you've got the crazy ass hardware.  I look at the RED stuff like gear porn.  It's not unlike the shiny hi-fi stuff…you can look and drool, but you won't touch it!  Heh!

The scary thing is it was actually overcranked 4X, so it was shooting 96 fps - amazing amount of data.  The big SSD's fill up like they were 8 Gig CF cards.  With the RED and the whole DSLR video revolution, this is a very exciting time for the film/video industry.

I've been getting into the DSLR for video and there is a ton to learn.
