Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show (TAVES)
« on: 8 Jun 2011, 02:15 am »
I'm not sure how many live in the Toronto vicinity, Canada or perhaps near States and have heard of the upcoming (Fall 2011) Toronto Audio Video Entertainment Show but I thought I would bring it to interested ones attention.  Perhaps some of you would be looking to make the trip - since this is the first show of this kind in Toronto in at least a decade.  I'm really excited and will be there.

I believe that Bryston will be represented as well as many other top line audio component producers.

Here's the link to their site that I found: http://www.taveshow.com

Is there anyone else that thinks they might attend.  I'm just overjoyed that it's local for me.  I work downtown Toronto.  I'll probably take the Friday as a vacation day just to take in it all.

It was the best news when I saw the ad. Only God knows how bad I wanted a good show in Toronto so I do not have to fly faraway.Toronto is a big and active city and I just cannot understand it that why they did not start show like this same time when they started SSI in Montereal.

BUMP - Is anyone considering going other than two of us?  It's a big deal for audio-enthusiasts in Toronto.  I'm hoping a show will continue to be hosted here going forward.  A tentative "unofficial" list of companies to be at the show was shared:

Expected:
Paradigm and Anthem
Monitor Audio (Kevro International)
Bryston
Focal Speakers (Plurison)
Naim (Plurison)
Cambridge Audio (Plurison)
Micromega (Plurison)
Furutech (Audiyo)
Klaro Speakers
Audio Physic (Goerner Communication)
Grant Fidelity
Reference 3A Loudspeakers (Divergent Technologies)
Euphoria Speakers
Xindak (Worlwide Wholesales)
Volent Speakers (Worlwide Wholesale)
Zu Audio Speakers (Worlwide Wholesale)
Kudos Speakers (Crown Mountain Imports)
Shanling (Charisma Audio)
Audio Space (Charisma Audio)
Audio Research (Audio Pathways)
Accuphase, Halcro, Basis, Jeff Rowland, Ovac, Sutherland, Bellari, Herron, Neeper Acoustics, Koetsu (Audio Pathways - exact list of brands to be confirmed from this company)
ELAC (Tri-cell Enterprises)
Clearaudio (Tri-cell Enterprises)
ASW Speakers (Tri-cell Enterprises)
Cardas Audio (Tri-cell Enterprises)
Audience (Tri-cell Enterprises)
Nordost Cables

Other potentials:

Sony
Samsung Electronics
Panasonic
Totem Acoustic
LG Electronics
Liberty Trading (which distributes many audio brands in Canada)
Lenbrook (PSB Speakers, NAD, Tivoli)
Sony Canada
Erikson Consumer (Harman Kardon, Sinclair Audio, JBL, Infinity and other brands)

Thank you! I live in the west end of Toronto and this is great news. Never been to a show before, and this is an opportunity I am not going to miss, oh joy!  I plan on taking the subway into Union Station and will enjoy the walk from there to the hotel.

Tickets are only $15 bucks - that's pretty cheap given typical Toronto prices for such events and the fact that it's at such a ritzy venue i.e. The King Edward Hotel

Yes that looks to be a beautiful venue, and the price downright affordable.  I'm planning to take some pictures, even video, if such is allowed...

Picture and video I'm sure will be allowed - these days there's not much of anything that can be done to prevent it with all the cameras on phones, iPods etc.

I know there will also be seminars offered on such things as setting up / callibrating your television.  I've also heard that there will be sellers of vinyl and accessories - so there will be something to take home at whatever budget.

I got down to Vegas in 2010 but was unable to do the show due to family priorities - don't think 2012 is in the picture...perhaps 2015. :banghead:

Finally an audio show in TO  :o admission is reasonable – parking not so much.

Take the GO-Train or the TTC, perhaps a cab and stay at the King Eddy.  I'll be taking the GO-Train myself.

Hi James,

I know Bryston will be at the TAVES show in Toronto that's being held at the end of this month.  Who from Bryston will be there on the three days of the show (Fri.Sat.Sun)?

Do you have any details that you can share on what we can expect to see?  What Bryston components, what amplifiers, what type of cables and what speakers.  I'm very much looking foward to seeing the room and meeting a few of you in-person.

Are you planning any give-aways...pens, mugs, t-shirts etc?

Thanks. :singing:

No give aways - I will be there and Brian and Dan.   We are sharing with Precor so they we will be doing a 5.1 video surround system with projector and PMC speakers.
