OK, have any of you guys seen this series yet?

Holy CRAP are these people FREAKS!!!!

The series is based around the shop named Obscura Antiques and Oddities located in the East Village in NYC and the absolute freakazoids that wander in.

To give you an example or two, Johnathan Davis lead singer of Korn walked in looking for antique embalming tools. He apparently has an fixation on cadavers. Then Voltaire (this other weird musician) walked in looking for something for a photo shoot for his new album. He ended up getting a slice of a diseased brain preserved in embalming fluid and mounted in a vertical case.

Then there is Edgar (a store regular). Edgar ...well Edgar mirrors the overtly melodramatic school of acting ala Vincent Price doing Dr Phibes. Trouble is I think Edgar has serious issues.

Minute after minute, this is a steady stream of one seriously disturbed person after another.

I knew these people were out there but I had no idea they were loose on the streets.

I guess there is a reason why I live in the Midwest.

...the videos only give you a taste of how weird this show is. Watch an episode or two.

I DVR this sucker and look forward to it. Every now and then some of the collectors they visit have very cool electrical stuff. One had a case full of old tubes. Of course I wanted to try and build something with them.  :icon_twisted:

Haha, like the show, actually have become facebook buddies with Laura Flook, talked music a couple times..she DJ's a couple nights a week also, probably goin to try and see a set sometime... Have to admit there's something oddly romantic about the sideshow and Victorian style freaks, and I mean freaks in a coplementary way.

Yeah, that blueprint copier I think it was that arced at over 6k degrees in the glass chamber was cool...

That blueprint machine was definitely pretty cool. That's the same guy who had all of the tubes. Scary part is when the guy was standing in front of his tube display. I paused the DVR and started rattling off the tube types to my wife

I have to admit, the "Steam Punk" artist in one of the episodes was completely awesome. Did you catch his computer workstation integrated into an old pump organ? WAY cool  :thumb:

Obscura is a pretty cool place - I live right up the street from it.

Funny they made a show about it.
