I am downsizing to help pay for some home renovations.  The Linn Unidisk is a sad, sad departure.  Looking for a new digital player in the 2k range.

I'm not happy about this move, but a new kitchen is a better investment :)

Are you looking for another universal player, or CD only playback? Also, do you mind an external DAC, or are you seeking a one unit box?

Looking for 1 box player.  Redbook priority.  If it has SACD, great, if not, no big deal.  I only bought around 10 discs anyways.  Into electronica alot which isn't on sacd yet...

For what initial info is available, look here.

And yes, he is referring to that MBL. Info on their machine can be found here.

Keith:

The other player I would check out besides the CD-1, is the APL modded Pioneer 563-A, along with Alex's upcoming DAC board and/or tube stage. It should make for an interesting comparison. In fact, maybe I'll have to do so :)

Keith,
I have a RAM CD player from Respons Audio and really love it.  My player has the upgraded Clock and Bybees.  Don't know if the Bybees actually make a difference but the tubed output is sweet and the construction quality is first rate.  It's the best sounding digital that I have ever heard on my system.  It's also within your price range.  I'd give Bill Baker a call for an audition.

Good luck,

Jack

Hey Keith,

Glad you got the place, lookin forward to hearing it

You are always welcome to drop by and hear my MiniMax CDP too.

I should have some new cryo'd Sovtek tubes for it in a week which should be interesting.

Does this mean the DynAudio's are on hold too?  :?
