Resonance at 80Hz

Hi
Here is my problem solved at 80Hz.

Before

http://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=47295

and after

http://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=47296

this is due to four Varitune V4 Helmholtz resonators.

http://www.audiocircle.com/image.php?id=47299

the slatpanel resonator at upper corner alone didin't take that resonace at 80Hz.

here is the freq response before and after.

I'm gonna put diffusion all the way in the middle. Post some picture later on.

Remember, this is not my dedicated listening room but I am more than happy.

Thanks

Your results are incredible.  I've been thinking about trying some Helmholtz resonators for my room as well.  I have a severe resonance at 36Hz.  I'm currently using an EQ'd subwoofer to combat the issue, but I'd LOVE to solve it with room treatments.

Thanks TJHUB

You solve the problem of your 36 Hz with Varitune V6 adjustable from 25-65 Hz.

I've already taken a look at the V6.  I'm betting the price is too much for me.  My plan is to build some myself out of concrete form tubes and round ports.  I designed them months ago, but never attempted building them.

McTwins,
Please describe the effect of the diffusion at the front wall and sides (preferably measurements but also listening impressions). At diffuser.com the translation says they "absorb" sound - which doesn't sound like diffusion to me. But ATM I have broad band absorption on the front wall; I am interested in the diffusor set up especially on the sides.

I've been in discussions about V6s to sort out my 35Hz problem. Your results are very impressive! Maybe something similar to what you have but with V6s would be possible. However, my room is smaller than yours, unfortunately, so we'll have to see. I was surprised you don't have a lower frequency room mode.
Darren

PS: What are those speakers? They look monster. And not even your main system?

Hi
Compare to large Dacron I had before the sound dosen't sounds dead now. More transparent.

I think it means if you have modules with AD20, AD40 and so on, and depth behind the diffusor it will handle freq from 100-16000 Hz depend on the depth involved. You will have absorbtion coefficient but it will NOT work like pure absorbtion, are you following me here??

I schould have more Helmholtz in this room, V6 and more V4 and I would tame it a little more better compare to now. You see the slat panel above the speakers, THIS didn't help anything, no changes what so ever on the measurement befere and after under 100 Hz dispite the large volume behind and absorbtion in it.

What I wanted to show here is the ability of the V4 good performance to tame the resonances in my room. Depends how the room is one would probably have more or less HH resonators.

The speakers are JBL PRX635 and PRX618XLF sub.

Thanks

Hi McTwins,
Your Varitune resonators look very interesting. could you share an US source for them, and how much $$$ are they?

Hi

In US it is http://www.performanceacousticslabs.com/PAL/Home-Acoustics_Listening_Rooms.html or Sweden www.diffusor.com. Call or e-mail PAL or Matts at diffusor.com for correct price.

Thanks
