Two questions on SAEC
« on: 26 May 2011, 05:24 am »
Hello,
I am a translator who knows next to nothing about audio technology  :duh: but was asked to translate a text on SAEC products from Japanese to English. I really prefer to understand the text I translate so I tried to search the web but I did not find any real answers so I decided to ask you for help. The two problems I have are double edge bearing and oil elevator? Could you explain to me the structure of the bearing. A picture would be ideal but I do not want to push it  :D With th oil elevator I am totally in dark. I realize these questions are probably not very interesting for you but I would really appreciate your answer. Thank you so much.

hallo,

the oil elevator is most likely the oil damped arm lift.
the double knife edge bearings are 2 sets of knife edges with the sharp side pointing towards each other with a stabilizing materieal between them.
this is for the horizontal movement of the tonearm.

by the way, have you seen this site, and this page on this site?
