James,
Bryston website is coming together very nicely!  Please add my kudos to the design team.

I would absolutely agree with last poster who described the overall look of the website as very "slick".  My question, is this the look you are shooting for?

When I see the current website design, I find two things jump out at me.  My eyes first go to the powerful (almost monolith) looking amp.  Very modern and cool looking.  Then, my eyes go to the text about the warrantee.  Obviously, a major Bryston selling point.  Then, I find my eyes kind of jumping all around the website at the variety of buttons that seem to frame the page.

My only criticism about the home page would be that (personally speaking, of course) it does little to reflect the absolutely fantastic and beautiful music Bryston gear is cable of reproducing.   When I was fresh to Bryston, so many reviews seemed to focus on the gear being "bullet proof"..
"used in recording studios".. and the "great warranty".  While these things are true and special, your equipment is so much more than that....

I hope the folks who work at Bryston have been happy.  One great review after another!

The first paragraph of the review is an interesting one- represents what I commented on in my last post in this thread.

Congrats Bryston guys/gals.

That certainly is a nice review. But not one with any surprises for Bryston owners. :-)

Quality products at a fair price built by nice people who stand behind their work.

If only every company were like this.

The website looks very good.  Just a suggestion or two, if I may...

Clicking on a specific product (ie B60), then clicking on reviews on the bottom leads to reviews to all products.  Maybe have the specific product being viewed's reviews at the top of the list?

Maybe have a seperate tab for integrated amps rather than having them listed under power amps?

A video section would be pretty cool, as has been mentioned earlier.

James, this new website does look a lot more polished compared to the current one.  Glad to see that the site is becoming more reflective of the quality of your gear. :)

Two quick nits to pick if the input is welcome.  For reference, I'm viewing on a mac running OS 10.4.11 with safari 4.1.3 on a 1920x1080 display.

First, the text/font size on the links and most everything that isn't a graphic/header is a bit on the small side, and the dark-on-dark coloring makes it hard to read (the links at the bottom in particular).  The yellow headers to the link sections, good; the links themselves, not so much.

Which gets me to my second thought, again the dark-on-dark colors with the fine font line/size.  The blue/background colored text marking the tabbed links across the top of the site get lost in the black bar that is the very top header.  Maybe text with a little more contrast or a different font or bumping the line thickness of the current font?

Cheers!

Hi James...I got one last comment... :green:

As mentioned, earlier about videos...I will like to add nice HD wallpapers of Bryston products especially on flagship models...the more interactive and informative the website is the better it is...the longer a person spend on browsing the site the higher the chance of making a sale.  :thumb:

Hi James,

Functionality of the site is good, however I don't like the redesign:

  • the look is too dark and too cold - even if black wants to emphasize the impression of high quality
  • blue doesn't quite fit into your colour profile
  • you have three different font styles and sizes in your header - that's awful
  • too many boxes and lines

Overall I think the design is inconsistent and doesn't represent Bryston values.

James...I like the overall design, but you may want to reconsider the blue in the colour scheme.

Cold? What do you mean exactly? I've never heard of a "warm" website.

There are so called "cold" colours e.g. black, blue, violet - and there are warm colours like red, yellow, orange.
The new Bryston website only uses dark and cold colours - the user doesn't feel welcomed.

This e.g. is a very "warm" website:

Bryston sets the standard in many ways when it comes to their products and the way it cares after the sale.

Ok - here is the pre-release version - not everything is working but open for feedback :thumb:

james

The new web site has a fresh feeling and is an improvement to the old one.
Suggestions for further improvement:
1) The pictures when pressing on the products should have been even bigger.

Example (picture appearing when pressing the rear small picture of 28B sst)
http://www.neographis.ca/Bryston/images/products/28BSST/L_3.gif
It would have been more informative if it could had been bigger

2) The tech docs for the products no longer manifactured (4B SST etc.) could have been in an own folder.

Love the look of the new site James!

I agree with Warren_Buff that clicking on the small thumbnail images should open up larger images (or none). Right now clicking on the small thumbnails opens the rollover images that are in the window above the thumbnail in a new page. Since you already are viewing them the isn't a need to open them in a new window.
